A little about this program..
The Green Club of Mission Prep approached One Cool Earth with an ambitious plan–to grow a tree for every student at the school. One Cool Earth had to come back with four truckloads of pots to deliver on the promise, and the school met its goal by growing over 300 oaks. The plantings were accompanied by presentations form teachers, the club, and OCE that discussed the value of trees in the ecosystem of which humans are a part. Finally, a prayer was given that the trees would create benefit in the world.
Most of the trees were planted at Whale Rock Reservoir, water supply for San Luis Obispo. Other trees were planted with Mission Elementary students as a 2011 Earth Day project at Cork Stop Studios just south of San Luis.
Students recorded the trees as part of the United Nation’s Plant for the Planet Billion Tree Initiative.
