Play Grove Intern
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time volunteer to join our team and help facilitate outdoor play experiences for young children ages 3-5 at our Headquarters garden site in San Luis Obispo.

At One Cool Earth, we believe in the power of community, and our new PTA – lovingly referred to as "The Hive" – is the heart of our volunteer-driven efforts. 🐝 The Hive is a dynamic group of volunteers, OCE staff, and board members working together to organize impactful fundraising events that support OCE's mission. By connecting with local partners, OCE families, and building stronger bonds, The Hive helps spread the word about our initiatives and grow our community.

-Plan 2 major fundraising events per year to raise funds and increase community awareness
-Collaborate with local partners and sponsors to amplify our reach
-Advocate for OCE’s mission, spreading the word and recruiting new volunteers
-Serve as a stepping stone for future OCE Board members

Garden Workday Volunteer
We have ongoing garden workday opportunities that happen all over the county throughout the year. These workdays typically occur after school or on Saturdays and include tasks such as spreading wood chips, building beds, planting, weeding, spreading mulch, etc.
Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hrs, after school on a weekday
If you are interested in joining for a Garden Workday, please fill out our Volunteer Waiver (below). At the day and time of the event, you will enter at the school front office and the staff will direct you to the garden. Please bring a hat, sunscreen, water and wear closed-toed shoes.
Workdays are weather dependent - it's always a good rule of thumb to call the office ahead of time to ensure that the event is a go!

Garden Educator Assistant Internship
The Garden Educator Assistant will work with students and assist a One Cool Earth’s Garden Educator with preparing and teaching lessons in school gardens. They will also perform garden maintenance tasks in the school garden. The position would be well-suited for someone who enjoys working with children and has a background knowledge or strong interest in gardening, education, nutrition, biology, and/or natural resource management.
